2024 AWARENESS WEEK

Celebrated annually, Spinal CSF Leak Awareness Week aims to increase awareness of intracranial hypotension (IH) caused by spinal Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF) leak and to incite improvement to access to diagnosis, treatment and care for all the sufferers from the condition. We are delighted to team up with our sister foundations in the UK and the US to give the event an international character.

Mayor Dan Bobbett joins with Jolene Hanrahan of Spinal CSF Leak Canada to proclaim June 3-8 as Spinal CSF Leak Awareness Week - a time to "Stand up for a Leaker" to raise awareness about efficient diagnosis and better access to treatment for patients.

This video provides a glimpse into the realities of living with spontaneous intracranial hypotension (SIH ) / spinal cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leak.

In recognition of the Spinal CSF Leak Awareness Week the following landmarks will be illuminated in purple:

Burlington Brant Street Pier - June 3 (requested by Deborah Hinton).
BC Place - June 6 (requested by Spinal CSF Leak Canada).
Calgary Tower - June 3 (requested by Anne Kaufmann).
Calgary Reconciliation Bridge - June 3 (requested by Anne Kaufmann).
CornwallLegion Memorial Park Fountain - June 3 - 8 (requested by Ingrid Snydal).
Niagara Falls - June 6 at 10:00pm for a 15 minute duration (requested by Spinal CSF Leak Canada). See the Falls illuminated HERE
Please reference The Niagara Falls Illumination Board in any promotional material related to this illumination and please be advised that any promotion of this illumination must include a request to follow the public health guidelines by those choosing to come to the park.
